Tragic Flooding Claims Lives of 11 in Kohat

As many as 11 family members have lost their lives following severe rainfall that resulted in water inundating the basement of their residence in Old Bazid Khel region in Kohat.

The victims include six children, three women, and two men. Rescue teams reported that the family was asleep in the basement when the sudden influx of rainwater overwhelmed their home.

Efforts have thus far recovered 11 bodies. Initially, the search focused on locating a missing girl, who has since been found. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has conveyed his deep condolences to the bereaved families.

In response to the ongoing monsoon conditions, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flood alert. The NDMA has cautioned that current weather patterns pose a risk of flash floods and urban flooding in several areas.

The authority advises the public to avoid traversing bridges during floods and to seek refuge in safe locations.
