Pakistani Pilgrims Urged to Tag Bags as Makkah Cell Recovers Thousands

Makkah Mukarrama / Islamabad — The Lost and Found Cell in Makkah has successfully resolved 4,193 cases of lost luggage and personal belongings reported by Pakistani pilgrims performing Hajj, with an additional 37 cases currently under process. This was confirmed by Aijaz Ahmed Memon, In-charge of the Lost and Found Cell, during a briefing to the Media Cell of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Saturday.
Memon highlighted that the Cell operates round-the-clock in two dedicated shifts—morning and night—with teams trained to handle cases efficiently. He emphasized the use of a fully digitalized system to trace and return missing items to their rightful owners. “We have a digitalize system in place to trace and return lost luggage and items to the concerned pilgrims,” Memon stated.
Adding to his remarks, team member Amna Kamal elaborated on the digital tracking mechanism that has enabled the successful return of high-value items, such as mobile phones and currency, directly to pilgrims’ residences. “We have successfully returned valuable items, including currency and mobile phones, directly to pilgrims’ residences,” she confirmed.
Kamal urged all Pakistani pilgrims to take proactive measures to safeguard their belongings by labeling their luggage properly. “Always leave a luggage tag in every bag. It helps us easily identify and return lost items,” she advised.
Memon also commended the role of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, particularly its Special Deployment Staff (SDS), for their continuous efforts in facilitating pilgrims throughout the Hajj season. “They are working around the clock to facilitate Pakistani pilgrims and ensure their comfort during Hajj,” he said.
The Lost and Found Cell continues to be a cornerstone of support for pilgrims in Makkah, offering timely assistance in recovering lost items and reinforcing the commitment to a seamless and secure Hajj experience for all.
