Ensuring Safe Medicines with Barcoding in Pakistan

Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal chaired a review meeting to evaluate the progress on drug barcoding, mobile application, and the backup data management system aimed at ensuring high-quality and safe medicines for the public.
During the meeting, the CEO of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) provided updates regarding ongoing initiatives related to drug barcoding and the implementation of digital solutions, including a specialised mobile application and backup data systems.
The session was attended by senior officials from the health ministry, including the Secretary Health, Additional Secretary, and Director General Ministry of Health. Officials focused on streamlining and strengthening existing systems to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in line with directives issued by the Prime Minister.
Minister Kamal emphasised the importance of swiftly implementing the recommendations to guarantee reliable and safe medical supplies for citizens, underscoring the government’s commitment to providing standard medicines through an efficient regulatory framework.
