Pakistan Establishes Diplomatic Relations with St Kitts and Nevis

Pakistan’s High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem presented his credentials to Governor General Dame Marcella A. Liburd of Saint Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis at a formal ceremony held at Government House in Basseterre, marking a significant milestone in the countries’ recently established diplomatic relations.

During the ceremony, High Commissioner Saleem conveyed heartfelt greetings from the Government and people of Pakistan to the Governor General, expressing his nation’s firm commitment to developing a vibrant and mutually beneficial partnership. He underscored the potential for substantial cooperation between Pakistan and St. Kitts and Nevis in various areas, including political dialogue, trade, investment, development initiatives, and tourism.

Mr. Saleem, stationed in Ottawa, Canada, holds the concurrent position of Pakistan’s non-resident High Commissioner to St. Kitts and Nevis, making him the first Pakistani envoy accredited to the Federation. Official diplomatic ties between Pakistan and St. Kitts and Nevis were formally established in January 2024, highlighting the fresh prospects now available for greater collaboration between the two nations.

The presentation of credentials symbolizes the start of an important diplomatic chapter, facilitating opportunities for enhanced engagement and close cooperation in diverse fields over the coming years.
