Asim Munir Receives Guard of Honour at GHQ

A solemn ceremonial Guard of Honour was held at General Headquarters to mark the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces. The three services’ contingents rendered a formal salute and presented the Guard of Honour in recognition of his new role.

The ceremony saw the presence of the Chief of the Naval Staff, the Chief of the Air Staff and other senior military officials who joined senior commanders in paying tribute. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir inspected the units and received the general salute from the honour guard as part of the protocol for the Chief of Defence Forces.

The Guard of Honour ceremony reflected the coordinated participation of the Army, Navy and Air Force in welcoming the new Chief of Defence Forces. Officials noted the ceremonial aspects were conducted with the customary precision and decorum expected at GHQ.

Separately, the Inter-Services Public Relations office stated that the army is not interested in engaging in talks with political parties, a position reiterated by the DG ISPR following the event.
