Boosting Pakistan Egypt Trade Through Cooperation

FPCCI President and Egyptian Ambassador Discuss Ways to Boost Bilateral Trade

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh met with Egypt’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdel Hamid, to discuss strengthening economic ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation between the two countries. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral trade relations, addressing mutual interests, and identifying strategies to overcome current challenges.

During the discussions, President Sheikh emphasized the need for a reduction in heavy tariffs imposed on Pakistani products in the Egyptian market. He highlighted that such measures would make Pakistani exports more competitive and facilitate greater trade flows between the two nations. He also underscored the importance of establishing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and Egypt, arguing that it would lay the groundwork for sustained, long-term economic collaboration.

Expressing concern over the declining trade volume in recent years, the FPCCI President suggested immediate steps to reverse the trend. He pointed out the significant potential for growth and diversification in bilateral trade, noting that both countries stand to benefit from closer economic cooperation. Sheikh advocated for the exchange of business delegations as a practical method to explore new commercial opportunities and foster direct interactions between entrepreneurs and investors from both sides.

Ambassador Dr. Abdel Hamid, for his part, highlighted the opportunities available for Pakistani investors in Egypt and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening commercial ties with Pakistan. He stated that Egypt attaches great importance to its relationship with Pakistan and remains dedicated to enhancing two-way trade across various sectors.

Both leaders expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan-Egypt economic relations and agreed to continue efforts aimed at overcoming existing barriers and exploring new paths for mutually beneficial trade development.
