Abubakar Talha Claims Two Titles at Aitchison
Abubakar Talha produced a commanding display to capture both the boys U 18 singles and doubles crowns at the Aitchison College Junior National Tennis Championship held on Mall Road Lahore on October 18 2025. Talha, a SA Gardens sponsored player and student of FG School Abid Majeed Lahore Cantt, overwhelmed Ahtesham Humayun in the singles final with a decisive 6 2 6 0 scoreline.
In doubles Talha teamed with Amir Mazari to beat the pairing of Ahtesham Humayun and Zohaib Afzal Malik in straight sets 6 3 7 5 and sealed a memorable double at the national junior event. The wins underline Abubakar Talha as a leading prospect in Pakistan junior tennis and reflect sustained training discipline and competitive maturity.
The girls U 18 title went to Bismal Zia who produced an impressive performance to defeat Fajar Fayyaz 6 1 6 0 and lift the trophy. The championship also showcased strong depth across age groups with several standout results.
In an Aitchison students only boys U 16 final M Umar Ali dominated Aryaan Hassan with a 6 0 victory to claim the title. The boys U 14 final saw Shayan Afridi demonstrate excellent form by defeating Muhammad Muaz 4 0 4 1 and then partnering with Zohaib Amjad to win the doubles final over M Umar Ali and Ahmad Fareed Yawar 4 0 4 1.
Hajra Sohail captured the girls U 14 crown by overcoming Bismal Zia 4 2 4 1. The boys U 12 competition produced close contests as Shayan Afridi again emerged triumphant against Muhammad Muaz 4 0 4 2. The boys U 12 doubles title was won by the duo of Muhammad Muaz and Muhammad Aayan who beat M Daniyal representing KPK and Muhammad Faizan 4 1 4 2.
In girls U 12 action Aiman Rehan prevailed over Khadija Khalil in a hard fought match that ended 5 4 3 3 with Khadija retiring. The younger category saw Salman Pirzada claim the boys girls U 10 title with a 6 2 victory against Daniyal Abdullah.
The closing ceremony was attended by Dr S M Turab Hussain Principal Aitchison College Lahore who presented trophies to winners and runners up and praised the participants for their dedication. Dr Hussain commended the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association and the Aitchison College management for promoting grassroots tennis and supporting the development of young talent across the province.
Tournament operations were coordinated under the leadership of ITF certified coach and referee Sajjad Rasul whose oversight ensured fair play and smooth scheduling. Rashid Malik as tournament director and Faheem Siddiqui as tournament coordinator provided essential support to make the championship a success.
The Aitchison event reinforced the role of national level junior competition in preparing players such as Abubakar Talha for higher level opportunities and international representation in the years ahead.
