Dengue Awareness Walk Held in Islamabad to Promote Prevention Measures

Public Health Authorities Launch Dengue Prevention Campaign in Islamabad
In a concerted effort to combat the rising threat of dengue fever, the District Health Office of Islamabad organized an awareness walk aimed at educating the public about preventive measures and community engagement strategies. Led by District Health Officer Dr. Syeda Rashida Batool, the event gathered participants from various walks of life to promote mosquito control and environmental sanitation as key components in preventing the disease.
The awareness walk served as a platform to disseminate crucial information regarding dengue prevention. Participants were advised to avoid standing water, regularly clean water containers, wear full-sleeved clothing, and utilize mosquito repellents such as sprays and lotions. The campaign also emphasized the importance of using mosquito nets and window screens to reduce mosquito bites, reiterating that collective efforts are essential to controlling the spread of dengue.
Complementing the awareness drive, the District Health Office announced the commencement of intensified vector surveillance and control activities across the city. These initiatives aim to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites proactively, ensuring timely interventions to curtail potential outbreaks.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate by adopting preventive measures and following health advisories. “Preventing dengue is a shared responsibility,” officials emphasized, calling on residents to participate actively in keeping their surroundings clean and free of stagnant water. The campaign underscores the importance of community involvement to safeguard public health, with the ultimate goal of reducing dengue incidence in Islamabad.
