Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to regional connectivity and economic cooperation during a high-level trilateral meeting in Kabul, held ahead of the signing of a framework agreement for the joint feasibility study on the proposed Uzbek-Afghan-Pak (UAP) Railway project.
The meeting brought together Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, and Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. Officials from all three countries underscored the enduring strength of their diplomatic relations and expressed a shared vision for peace, economic integration, and sustainable development across the region.
Delegates highlighted the strategic significance of the UAP Railway project for boosting regional trade, improving connectivity, and fostering economic growth. They agreed that continued cooperation would be essential to unlocking the region’s economic potential, creating new opportunities for their peoples, and ensuring long-term prosperity.
The forthcoming signing of the framework agreement on the joint feasibility study marks a significant step towards realizing the railway project, which is expected to serve as a vital trade and transport corridor linking Central and South Asia.
