Kazakhstan and Pakistan Advance Railway Corridor Cooperation

Kazakhstan and Pakistan are seeking to boost cooperation in transport and logistics, with both countries emphasizing the launch of new international railway corridors to strengthen trade ties. This was discussed in a meeting between Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Atajan Movlamov, and Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.
Ambassador Kistafin highlighted ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration between Kazakhstan and Pakistan, outlining plans for upcoming events aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations. He particularly focused on the importance of developing transport and logistics links, stressing Kazakhstan’s commitment to diversifying and enhancing international transport corridors between the two countries. He noted that new railway projects could help boost both bilateral and regional trade.
Federal Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi welcomed these initiatives, expressing a strong interest in collaborating with Kazakhstan on new transport and logistics ventures. He underscored Pakistan’s eagerness to diversify existing trade routes, including exploring multimodal transport solutions.
During the meeting, Minister Abbasi also accepted an invitation to visit Kazakhstan for the TransLogistica Kazakhstan 2025 international exhibition and the New Silk Way transport forum in Almaty, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to further strengthen cooperation in the sector.
