**Punjab to Launch 88 New Sports Infrastructure Projects, Says DG Sports Khizra Afzal Chaudhry**
Punjab is set to embark on an ambitious expansion of its sports infrastructure with the launch of 88 new development projects across the province, according to Director General Sports Punjab, Khizra Afzal Chaudhry. The initiative aims to deliver modern sports facilities to both urban and rural communities, supporting government efforts to promote athletic engagement among the youth.
In a high-level meeting chaired by DG Khizra Afzal Chaudhry, key decisions were made to advance the preparation of project documentation (PC-1s) for the new sports schemes. Out of the total projects planned, 38 have already reached the finalized documentation stage. The Director General highlighted that active development work is underway throughout all divisions of Punjab, underlining the province’s commitment to fostering a culture of sports excellence.
The meeting was attended by Director Admin Dr. Muhammad Kaleem, Deputy Director Tariq Khanzada, and divisional sports officers who joined remotely. District and divisional officials were instructed to take ownership of the planned projects and ensure regular field visits from the initial documentation phase to completion and handover. This approach is aimed at guaranteeing accountability and timely project delivery.
To further strengthen oversight, a comprehensive reporting mechanism is being put in place for real-time monitoring of project progress. DG Khizra Afzal Chaudhry stressed the importance of adhering to quality standards and completing all schemes within their stipulated deadlines, ensuring that the public benefits from enhanced sports facilities as soon as possible.
