Child Vaccination and Islamic Guidance for Healthy Families

Religious Scholars Endorse Child Vaccination at Seminar in Bannu
Religious leaders and health experts gathered at Madrasa Nizam-ul-Uloom Orphanage in Bannu to emphasize the significance and religious permissibility of government-administered vaccinations for children, urging parents to fully utilize these free health services to protect the younger generation from preventable diseases.
The seminar, organized under the Big Catch-up Immunization Campaign by the Community Development Program (CDP) in collaboration with UNICEF, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of immunization in safeguarding children. Prominent speakers included Shaykh-ul-Hadith Mufti Imdadullah, Mufti Izzazullah Haqqani, API Assistant Coordinator Rasool Jan, and CDP Chief Executive Faiz-ur-Rehman Mishal.
During the seminar, religious scholars highlighted that Islamic teachings strongly advocate not only for personal health but also for environmental cleanliness, positioning disease prevention as a collective responsibility. They clarified that immunization against diseases is permissible in Islam and stressed that no other faith places as much emphasis on health and cleanliness.
The speakers pointed out that the government provides free vaccines to children from birth up to the age of five, covering 12 potentially fatal diseases. All costs associated with these vaccinations, they noted, are covered by the government, which spends millions of rupees to ensure widespread protection for children. Parents were strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and not let any child miss out on essential vaccinations.
Furthermore, the participants urged both students and teachers at the madrasa to actively promote vaccination awareness in their communities. By spreading this message from house to house, the speakers said, the community can help ensure that every eligible child receives immunization, thereby supporting public health objectives.
The event concluded with special prayers for the country’s safety and an improvement in the current law and order situation.
