IIUI Gains Approval for Railway Access Facilitation at I-10

**IIUI Secures Approval for Improved Access at I-10 Railway Crossing Following Meeting with Railways Minister**
A delegation from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has secured approval for improved access at the I-10 railway crossing following a productive meeting with the Minister for Railways, Mr. Hanif Abbasi. The move is expected to resolve ongoing transportation and operational difficulties faced by the university community, with particular benefits for female students who rely on university transport.
The IIUI delegation, which included Dr. Amna Mehmood (In-Charge, Female Campus), Dr. Asma Mansoor (In-Charge, Protocol and Public Relations), and Mr. Hassan Shabbir (Assistant Director, Administration and Finance), presented their concerns over the closure of the railway crossing gate adjacent to Sector I-10. According to the delegation, the restrictions compelled university transport to take longer routes, leading to increased fuel expenses, extended commute times, and operational strain for students and staff.
Highlighting the disproportionate impact on female students—many of whom depend on university transportation from surrounding sectors—the delegation emphasized that restoring direct access would enhance efficiency and well-being for the entire IIUI community. They also underlined the university’s role in advancing education, especially for women, as part of its broader mission.
Minister Hanif Abbasi praised IIUI’s contributions to educational development and women’s empowerment, noting that female students form a significant majority at the institution. Responding promptly to the concerns, he directed that IIUI should receive access facilitation similar to that provided to NESCOM, ensuring a practical and immediate solution.
The successful meeting was facilitated by efforts from the university’s leadership, particularly the Rector’s office, and underscores IIUI’s ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure and accessibility for its students and staff. Minister Abbasi also conveyed his best wishes to the university leadership and reaffirmed the Ministry of Railways’ willingness to support initiatives that further educational progress.
