Illegal Bus Stands Operation in Rawalpindi Under DC Orders

Rawalpindi authorities, under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema, have launched an operation targeting illegal bus terminals in the Pirwadhai area. The move aims to regulate public transport operations and ensure compliance with local laws.
The operation was carried out by the Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and is part of broader efforts by the district administration to address unregulated transport hubs that contribute to traffic congestion and safety concerns in Rawalpindi. Officials emphasized that the crackdown aligns with directives from the Government of Punjab and has the backing of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s administration.
Local residents have long complained about the proliferation of unauthorized bus stands, which often operate without proper registration or adherence to safety protocols. The authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against violators, including potential fines and closure of illegal facilities.
The initiative is being coordinated with support from the Punjab Information, Public Relations, and Media Directorate, with officials stating that the administration is committed to improving transportation infrastructure and the overall quality of life for citizens in Rawalpindi.
