Jirga Training in Nowshera Empowers Members for Women’s Safety

**CPDI Conducts Training for Jirga Members in Nowshera to Address Violence Against Women**
The Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI), with support from The Asia Foundation, has held a two-day training program for local Jirga members in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, aiming to strengthen their capacity to address cases of violence against women within their communities.
The training, organized under the Justice Sector Support Program, focused on enhancing the legal awareness, gender sensitivity, and community-based conflict resolution skills of Jirga members. Through interactive sessions, participants were equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively support victims and to handle such cases more sensitively and judiciously.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Nowshera, Mr. Saifullah Anjum, attended the event as a special guest. In his remarks, he underlined the important role that both Jirgas and Dispute Resolution Committees (DRCs) play in reducing the workload of the police by resolving cases of violence against women at the community level. Mr. Anjum also emphasized the need for continued collaboration and capacity building among community leaders to foster a more just and equitable society.
At the conclusion of the training, Mr. Anjum distributed certificates to the participants, acknowledging their commitment to promoting justice and gender equality within their communities. The event marks a significant step towards empowering local leadership in addressing critical social issues and supporting the justice system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
