**UIIT’s Open House & Job Fair Facilitates Graduate Employment and Industry Collaboration at Arid University**
The University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) successfully conducted its annual Open House & Job Fair 2025. The event brought together leading technology companies, university faculty, and graduating students to promote collaboration between academia and industry, create job opportunities, and foster innovation.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Vice Chancellor of PMAS-AAUR, who toured the student project exhibition and engaged with participants. Accompanying him were Registrar Muhammad Aqeel Sultan, deans, directors, faculty members, and a large assembly of students. Industry representatives from over 60 tech-related organizations participated, evaluating student work, conducting interviews, and facilitating recruitment.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman underscored the significance of strong partnerships between universities and industry. He highlighted how such collaborations are essential for driving technological advancements, nurturing innovation, and enhancing national economic competitiveness. He also emphasized that these partnerships benefit educational institutions and businesses alike, and make substantial contributions to the country’s development.
Participants at the fair had the opportunity to present their projects, mainly in Computer Science and Software Engineering. The showcased innovations demonstrated the technical knowledge and creative abilities of UIIT students. Representatives from participating companies interviewed candidates and offered both jobs and internships on the spot. As a result, 45 graduates received job offers and more than 80 students secured internship positions.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony honoring the top three students in each project domain. Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman presented the awards and commended Prof. Dr. Yaser Hafeez, Director of UIIT, along with his team, for their dedication to building strong industry-academic linkages. Prof. Dr. Yaser Hafeez expressed his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his steadfast support and reaffirmed UIIT’s commitment to encouraging innovation and enhancing the employability of its graduates.
