Deepening Pakistan Romania Trade Ties
Ambassador Ilyas Mehmood Nizami visited the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and held a constructive meeting with the Chamber President Engr. Iuliu Stocklosa to explore practical steps for enhancing Pakistan Romania trade and business engagement.
The Chamber’s president briefed the ambassador on the institution’s history, core activities and organisational structure, and accompanied him on a tour of the heritage building that houses the Chamber. The visit offered a platform for direct dialogue between Pakistani diplomats and Romanian business leaders on strengthening ties between their commercial communities.
Ambassador Nizami highlighted Pakistan’s large domestic market as a key advantage, noting the country’s position among the world’s most populous nations and the consequent market potential for Romanian partners. He identified information technology and mining and minerals as priority sectors where Pakistani and Romanian enterprises can form mutually beneficial partnerships and scale joint ventures.
Emphasising investment incentives, the ambassador outlined the Special Economic Zones being developed under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and invited Romanian investors to evaluate the opportunities and facilitation measures available. He also promoted Pakistan’s competitive export strengths, naming textiles, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, rice, fruits and vegetables, surgical instruments, sports equipment and meat products as sectors with strong supply potential and export readiness.
The discussion reaffirmed a shared commitment to increase business delegations, exchange market information and create direct channels between trade bodies to translate dialogue into concrete trade flows. Stakeholders on both sides agreed to pursue follow up meetings and practical cooperation aimed at raising bilateral trade and investment ties.
