Malaysia and Pakistan Commit to Enhancing Cultural and Heritage Collaboration
Malaysia and Pakistan have reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the realms of culture and heritage, emphasizing the importance of deepening cultural ties through various initiatives and exchanges. This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Malaysian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohd Syafik Firdaus Hasbullah, and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Muhammad Aurangzeb Khichi.
During the discussions, the Malaysian diplomat expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support in promoting cultural relations and praised the efforts of the Pakistani government and its people in preserving and celebrating their rich cultural heritage. Ambassador Hasbullah highlighted Malaysia’s strong emphasis on cultural diplomacy with Pakistan and extended a formal invitation to the Pakistani minister to visit Malaysia, an offer that was warmly accepted. He also recognized the contributions of Pakistani expatriates in Malaysia, noting their hard work and talent across various sectors, including business.
The Pakistani Minister assured his government’s full support for facilitating cultural and artistic exchanges, emphasizing that Pakistan possesses well-established institutions capable of organizing exhibitions and cultural events. This cooperation aims to foster greater mutual understanding and appreciation of each country’s cultural identity.
A notable topic discussed was the innovative use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Pakistan to preserve and promote the legacy of the Gandhara Civilization. This pioneering effort marks a significant step toward integrating modern technology with heritage conservation, representing a forward-looking approach to cultural preservation.
The meeting also explored plans to organize joint cultural performances featuring dancers from both countries, offering opportunities for the public to experience the diverse cultural expressions of Malaysia and Pakistan. The Pakistani Minister expressed full cooperation in facilitating these events, which are expected to enhance cultural exchange and strengthen people-to-people ties.
Furthermore, the Pakistani side highlighted Punjab’s unique cultural identity, with Minister Khichi noting the province’s distinctive heritage and its global significance. The Malaysian ambassador expressed keen interest in visiting Punjab’s cultural sites, indicating an intent to deepen engagement with Pakistan’s regional cultural gems.
Concluding on a positive note, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to fostering stronger cultural, artistic, and heritage ties, underscoring their shared goal of leveraging culture as a bridge for greater bilateral cooperation and understanding.
