
Alamgir Shaikh has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the World Pool Association (WPA), a move welcomed by the Islamabad Billiards and Snooker Association (IBSA), which believes his leadership will significantly benefit cue sports in Asia.
IBSA officials, including President Dr. Shehzad Waseem, Senior Vice President Saleem Akhtar Rana, and General Secretary Muhammad Faheem Anwar Khan, expressed confidence that Shaikh’s inclusion on the WPA Board will help drive the growth of billiards and pool throughout the region. They highlighted his extensive experience and dedication to the sport, stating that these qualities will enhance its development on the international level.
The World Pool Association announced that Shaikh’s nomination came through the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS), positioning him as ACBS’s new representative on the global board. The association described Shaikh as a veteran figure in cue sports administration, recognizing his decades-long commitment and influential role in expanding the sport’s reach across Asia.
WPA leadership said they look forward to Alamgir Shaikh’s valuable contributions to cue sports worldwide with his proven record of advancing the discipline throughout the continent.
