Youth-Led Climate Dialogue at Pre-LCOY KPK 2025

At the Pre-Local Conference of Youth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, held at the Governor House in Peshawar, youth leadership took center stage in discussions about climate policy and inclusivity. The event brought together young leaders, policymakers, and activists to emphasize the critical role of the next generation in addressing climate challenges.

Umair Mufakir, CEO of the National Youth Climate Change Council (NYCCC), delivered the official welcome address, underlining the importance of youth-driven conversations in developing effective climate strategies. He highlighted how empowering young people to participate in climate policy-making can drive innovative solutions and more resilient communities.

As a panelist in the session titled “The Role of Youth, Women, and Faith Leaders in Advancing Pakistan’s Nationally Determined Contributions and National Adaptation Plan,” Umair Mufakir stressed the need for inclusive climate governance. He pointed out that integrating the perspectives of youth, women, and religious leaders is essential for grassroots mobilization and fulfilling Pakistan’s national and international climate commitments.

The NYCCC leadership’s active involvement in the conference was celebrated as a significant step towards promoting inclusive action and ensuring underrepresented groups have a voice in shaping Pakistan’s climate future.
