SCO Members Advance Transport and Interconnectivity Cooperation

A high-level meeting on transport and interconnectivity was held in Awaza, Turkmenistan, bringing together key international leaders to discuss strengthening transportation ties across Asia and beyond. The event was attended by Armenia’s President Vaagn Khachaturian, who chaired the session, as well as the Prime Minister of Nepal, the Minister of Transport of Tajikistan, senior officials from Austria and Ethiopia, and representatives from the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and the UN European Economic Commission.

During the summit, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Ahmad Saidmurodzoda highlighted the growing collaboration among SCO member states in the transport sector. He outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at easing international motor transport and improving logistical connections across member countries.

Participants received detailed information about the Agreement between the Governments of the Member States of the Organization, intended to establish favorable conditions for international motor transport. The meeting also included discussions on key transport policy documents and frameworks designed to strengthen regional connectivity, promote economic cooperation, and facilitate smoother transit routes across the region.
