Rightsizing Drive Accelerated in Communications Ministry

Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan chaired a departmental meeting to review the rightsizing process across the Communications Ministry, with briefings delivered by the Federal Secretary Communications, the Chairman of the National Highway Authority and the Inspector General of Motorways. The session examined the cabinet committee’s recommendations and evaluated next steps to implement the agreed measures.

The minister directed that officials be given new targets to drive the rightsizing agenda forward, underlining the need for measurable progress and timely reporting. Participants discussed operational adjustments and coordination among agencies to ensure the rightsizing objectives are translated into actionable plans at department and field levels.

During the meeting, a detailed investigative report was requested regarding the recruitment of some 4,000 employees in Pakistan Post during the previous government. Alongside the probe, the minister ordered that a coordinated business plan be developed for Postal Life Insurance to strengthen its operations and financial sustainability as part of broader reform efforts.

The focus on rightsizing was tied to improving efficiency and accountability across communications-related bodies, with instructions for enhanced oversight and follow-up on the implementation of assigned targets. Officials were instructed to submit progress updates and the requested reports to facilitate informed decisions moving forward.
