HEC Workshop on Financial Management and Audit Practices

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, in collaboration with the U.S. State Department’s Merit & Needs-Based Scholarship Program, organized a two-day workshop focused on improving financial management, audit practices, and procurement strategies within universities. The event brought together university representatives from across Pakistan for comprehensive training on financial regulations, audit procedures, procurement rules, and the application of data analytics in auditing.
In his opening remarks, HEC Advisor Scholarships Muhammad Raza Chohan highlighted the critical role of strong financial governance in higher education institutions. He underscored the need for universities to enhance their brand, generate revenue through research commercialization, establish industry partnerships, and develop curricula that meet market demands.
The workshop featured interactive sessions led by experts from the Auditor General of Pakistan Revenues (AGPR), the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), and other regulatory bodies. Participants received hands-on insights into modern auditing trends, particularly the use of advanced technology in audit processes.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony and a renewed commitment from participating universities to apply the knowledge and skills gained, aiming to strengthen governance and promote transparency within their institutions.
