Pakistan’s Climate Change Response in Flood-Hit Mingora

Minister of State for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Shazra Mansab Ali Khan, visited Mingora to assess the situation in communities affected by recent floods and reaffirm the government’s commitment to supporting those impacted. During her visit, she met with families hit by the disaster and expressed solidarity, highlighting the government’s dedication to building resilience and ensuring the rehabilitation of vulnerable areas.

Dr. Shazra Mansab emphasized that safeguarding communities at risk from the increasing effects of climate change is a top priority for the government. She reviewed ongoing relief efforts and engaged with local residents to better understand their needs and challenges in the aftermath of the floods.

The Minister also took part in the nationwide Monsoon Plantation Drive, which operates under the initiative “Aik Beti, Aik Shajar.” Launched by the Prime Minister, this campaign aims to plant 41 million trees throughout the country to bolster climate resilience, restore ecosystems, and encourage community participation in environmental protection.

Federal Secretary for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Ms. Aisha Humaira Moriani, joined the Minister during this visit, reflecting the government’s collective approach to addressing climate change and supporting affected communities.
