Prosecutor Training Strengthens Response to Violence
Master Trainers from the Pakistan Legal United Society (PLUS), in partnership with the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI), conducted a focused prosecutor training session at the Karachi High Court addressing violence against women. The event brought together public prosecutors to discuss legal challenges, evidence handling and victim-centred prosecution strategies.
The prosecutor training aimed to strengthen the capacity of Sindh’s prosecution service to effectively investigate and prosecute cases of violence against women. Trainers emphasised practical approaches to building robust cases, safeguarding survivors during proceedings and applying the law to ensure timely and fair outcomes.
Muntazir Mehdi, Prosecutor General Sindh, Altaf Khoso, CEO PLUS, and Samreen Siyal, Deputy Director, concluded the session by presenting certificates to participating public prosecutors. The certification recognised prosecutors’ commitment to implementing improved practices in their daily work.
Participants said the prosecutor training will contribute to a more accountable justice process in Sindh by equipping front-line prosecutors with tools to pursue perpetrators and protect survivors. Organisers highlighted that continued collaboration between PLUS, CPDI and the Sindh prosecution service is essential to sustain these improvements and foster greater public confidence in the legal response to violence against women.
