Pakistan MMA Fighters Qualify for World Championship and BRAVE 100

Eight Pakistani fighters have qualified for the upcoming World MMA Championship in Georgia, while five others have secured places in the prestigious Road to BRAVE 100 and World Championship in Bahrain, marking significant progress for mixed martial arts in Pakistan. The achievements came during the Pakistan Combat Night, a landmark event held in Lahore that showcased the country’s growing passion and talent in combat sports.
The event, known as the Battle of Truth, was organized by the Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (PAKMMAF) with support from the Punjab government. It attracted a capacity crowd, many of whom noted the excitement surpassed even major cricket matches. The stadium was filled with energy as fans remained enthralled throughout the evening.
Fighters from Islamabad stood out during the Pakistan Open MMA Championship, with Abdul Manan, Moiz Satti, Siddiq Ullah, Ayan Hussain, Shahab Ali, and Sajid Katoshi all emerging victorious and earning their spots at the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) World Championship in Georgia.
The Road to BRAVE 100 segment also proved dramatic. Aqib Awan delivered a strong performance in the flyweight division, defeating Egypt’s Al-Hassan Muhammad. In the bantamweight contest, Babar Ali overcame Azerbaijan’s Shirkhan Valili, and Zia Mashwani dominated against Iran’s Saman Moradmand. The main event saw Rizwan Ali win against Egypt’s Adham Muhammad to thunderous applause. The night was notable for women’s MMA as well, with Eman Khan achieving a remarkable first-round knockout over Tunisia’s Maha.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, though traveling abroad, closely followed the event’s progress, while Punjab Sports Minister Faisal Khokhar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making MMA central to Punjab’s sports development.
Pakistan Combat Night achieved extensive media coverage, airing live on ARY Sports, PTV Sports, several digital platforms, and being reported by major international outlets including BBC Urdu, Arab News, and The Independent UK. International fighters from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Egypt, and Morocco praised the hospitality and organization, enhancing Pakistan’s reputation on the global stage.
PAKMMAF President Omar Ahmed highlighted the transformative impact of MMA, emphasizing its potential to rival cricket in popularity and commercial value. He outlined the federation’s vision to develop world-class properties in martial arts, fostering national pride and discipline among Pakistan’s youth.
Ahmed also pointed to the federation’s close collaboration with the Special Forces of Pakistan. The integration of MMA into military training has improved operational capabilities, and ongoing partnerships continue to grow. Additionally, PAKMMAF is working with the Higher Education Commission to introduce MMA into university sports programs, ensuring structured development opportunities for young athletes.
The event followed the recent recognition of Omar Ahmed and fighter Rizwan Ali by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) with the Pride of Pakistan award. Ahmed was honored for building sustainable MMA structures, while Rizwan Ali’s skill continues to earn him a place among Asia’s top fighters.
With overflowing stadiums, widespread media attention, and international acclaim, Pakistan Combat Night signaled a new era for combat sports in the country. MMA is now emerging as a symbol of unity, inspiration, and national advancement.
