Human Rights and Refugee Protection Training for Police

SHARP recently organized a high-level training workshop in Lahore, aiming to enhance the understanding of human rights and refugee protection among senior police officials. The initiative brought together 42 officers, including DSPs, Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, SHOs, and Investigating Officers, at the Police Training School in Police Lines.
The event featured expert-led sessions and was attended by prominent figures such as Ms. Munazza Karamat, SP (Civil Lines). Resource persons included Ms. Arooj Un Nissa, Field Manager; Ms. Ghazala Mirza, UNHCR Representative; and Mr. Usman Ghani, Director Legal, CAR Punjab. Trainers highlighted the importance of constitutional protections and international human rights conventions, underlining law enforcement’s crucial role in upholding justice, dignity, and equality for all, regardless of nationality or legal status.
The workshop underscored SHARP’s ongoing commitment to building the capacity of police forces. By equipping officers with the necessary knowledge and tools, the organization aims to promote a more inclusive, protection-oriented approach for refugees and other vulnerable groups in Pakistan.
