OIC-COMSTECH Delegation Visits University of Lahore

A high-level eight-member delegation from the Institute of Botany, Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited the University of Lahore to take part in an international workshop on nature-based medicinal and cosmetic products, strengthening academic ties and promoting research collaboration between the two countries.
The delegation, facilitated by OIC-COMSTECH, attended the International Workshop on Nature-Based Medicinal and Cosmetic Products organized by the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Lahore, a member of the Consortium of Excellence. The visit brought Azerbaijani scientific leadership into direct engagement with UOL researchers and faculty working on natural product-based applications in medicine and cosmetics.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Rector of the University of Lahore, welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the collaboration, specifically thanking Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, for his role in facilitating the exchange. His remarks highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering international research partnerships and advancing interdisciplinary work in bioactive natural products.
Prof. Dr. Sayyara Ibadullayeva, Director General of the Institute of Botany, Republic of Azerbaijan, addressed workshop participants and underscored the importance of joint academic and research initiatives in medicinal and cosmetic sciences. She emphasized collaborative efforts to translate botanical research into practical, nature-based products that meet global standards.
The event convened national and international experts, researchers, and participants to share knowledge, present research findings, and explore future collaboration opportunities. Organizers said the workshop aims to enhance knowledge exchange and build sustained academic and research links between institutions in Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and the wider OIC scientific community.
