Islamabad Beautification Plan and Sports Initiatives Progress

The Capital Development Authority (CDA), under the leadership of Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, convened a meeting to discuss extensive plans aimed at beautifying Islamabad, improving infrastructure, enhancing sports facilities, and strengthening waste management services. Senior officials of CDA and relevant government departments attended the session to review ongoing and proposed projects that seek to transform Islamabad into a model city with modern amenities.

Chairman Randhawa emphasized the prompt implementation of urban beautification projects, particularly in the Blue Area, Islamabad’s central business district. Instructions were issued to swiftly complete the pedestrian tracks, food courts, and parking plazas to enhance convenience for citizens. The chairman also directed improved designs for pedestrian pathways, stressing their timely completion to facilitate the public.

In a bid to promote sporting activities, the CDA Sports and Culture Department presented several newly launched projects. Officials stated that locations for five paddle courts had been successfully auctioned, resulting in a substantial monthly revenue of PKR 7.6 million for CDA. In alignment with recent directives issued by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, CDA has designated sites for the construction of 25 football fields and 25 cricket grounds. Additionally, three futsal courts, one indoor cricket facility, and five cricket academies are planned to bolster Islamabad’s sports infrastructure and engagement among youth.

Chairman Randhawa also prioritized enhancements at major parks, particularly F-9 Park and Lake View Park, through the installation of modern lighting systems and upgraded amenities. Furthermore, he approved the proposal for a new dancing fountain at F-9 Park and instructed officials to proceed according to regulations.

Focusing on environmental sustainability and tourism promotion, CDA is finalizing plans for planting eco-friendly trees and launching electric buses. Additional ambitious projects, such as cable cars, theme parks, and a Ferris wheel are being finalized in line with prevailing laws and regulations. Such initiatives aim to position Islamabad as an eco-friendly and globally attractive destination.

Traffic management and road infrastructure remained a key discussion point, as Chairman Randhawa informed participants of ongoing construction and upgrading of major thoroughfares, including Expressway, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road, and Faisal Avenue. Special attention is being paid to lane markings, sidewalk repairs, median strips, green belts, and beautification of roadways. Additionally, CDA continues to enhance traffic flow across the city by constructing new roads, underpasses, and upgrading existing routes.

Participants were briefed on the comprehensive horticulture, landscaping, and beautification projects currently underway along model roads. Seasonal flowers, wooden structures, attractive planters, modern lights, and improved horticulture techniques are receiving positive responses from residents. Chairman Randhawa ordered the upgrading of parks in every sector, including walking tracks, swings, modern lighting, and horticultural improvements. He also directed officials to maintain permanent and attractive lighting installations on all key roads, such as Club Road, Faisal Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, Margalla Road, and Expressway.

A further notable decision was the approval to enhance Islamabad’s Solid Waste Management System with the acquisition of advanced cleaning machinery. This measure aims to significantly raise the cleanliness standards across the city, ensuring effective removal and management of municipal waste.

Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa reaffirmed CDA’s commitment to leveraging all available resources in transforming Islamabad into a model, exemplary city. He vowed to expedite efforts to upgrade residential, transport, sporting, and recreational facilities, affirming that ongoing development initiatives would significantly enhance the capital’s beauty, environment, and overall quality of life.
