Launching Pakistan Child Rights Hub to End Child Labor

The European Union-funded Child Rights Action Hub Pakistan was officially launched on 25 September in Karachi in partnership with The Centre for Child Rights and Business, marking a key step to protect children across the country’s leather and textile supply chains. The new Child Rights Hub aims to bring coordinated action to areas where younger workers and children are most at risk.

The Hub will identify, prevent and remediate child labour at scale, with a particular focus on lower and informal tiers of supply chains where risks are often hidden. Efforts will combine on-the-ground assessment with practical remediation measures to ensure children and young workers receive timely support.

Building capacity among suppliers and other key actors is central to the Hub’s work. The programme will support stronger Human Rights Due Diligence practices, improved risk management and targeted young worker support so businesses can better prevent and respond to child labour in their sourcing networks.

A second Action Hub is scheduled to open in Multan this October to extend reach into Punjab’s manufacturing clusters and deepen engagement with local suppliers and communities. The Multan launch is intended to scale interventions and strengthen linkages between brands, buying houses and local industry.

Brands, buying houses, retailers and textile and leather businesses across Pakistan are invited to join the Child Rights Hub and collaborate on practical solutions. By working together to strengthen HRDD and remediate cases of child labour, the sector can make a lasting difference in the lives of children and young workers.
