Strengthening Bulgaria Pakistan Culture Ties

On 30 September 2025 at the UNESCO World Conference MONDIACULT 2025, Marian Bachev, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, and Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture of Pakistan, signed the Programme for Cooperation in the Field of Culture for 2025–2027 aimed at deepening Bulgaria Pakistan culture relations.

The agreement commits both countries to enhanced cultural exchange through joint participation in international festivals, exhibitions, book fairs and seminars, creating new platforms for Pakistani artists and authors to reach European audiences and for Bulgarian cultural initiatives to be showcased in Pakistan.

Collaboration will focus on museums, archaeology and cultural heritage preservation to strengthen conservation practices and shared research opportunities. The programme also places emphasis on coordinated action to combat illegal trafficking of cultural property, underlining mutual responsibility to protect and secure cultural assets.

Translation and publication of literary works are highlighted to boost cross‑cultural understanding, while exchange of experts and academic delegations will support capacity building in heritage management and creative sectors. These measures are designed to broaden professional links and academic cooperation that benefit cultural institutions on both sides.

The partnership, signed as the two countries mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, lays a foundation for sustained, long‑term cooperation based on mutual respect and shared values and strengthens Pakistan’s cultural diplomacy through tangible projects and people‑to‑people engagement.
