Turkish Delegation Explores Pakistan Parliament
A nine-member Turkish delegation visited Parliament House and Gali-e-Dastoor in Islamabad on 9 October 2025, receiving a comprehensive briefing from senior officials of the Senate Secretariat. The delegation was welcomed warmly and briefed on Pakistan’s parliamentary system, the legislative process and the role of the upper house.
The visitors toured the Senate Museum where they viewed a documentary on Pakistan’s democratic history and parliamentary traditions. Members of the Turkish delegation expressed particular interest in exhibits that highlight the evolution of the Senate and its contributions to national governance.
The delegation observed proceedings in the Senate Hall and showed keen interest in the workings of parliamentary debate and lawmaking. Officials explained procedural aspects of sessions and the mechanisms through which the Senate interacts with other institutions in Pakistan’s constitutional framework.
The group also held a meeting with Senator Noorul Haq Qadri to discuss bilateral ties, parliamentary cooperation and regional developments. Senator Qadri underscored that Pakistan and Turkey share deep religious, cultural and historical bonds and that both countries have consistently supported each other at regional and international fora.
During the visit to Gali-e-Dastoor, the delegation examined historical photographs, documents and memorials detailing Pakistan’s constitutional and democratic development. Members of the Turkish delegation praised the preservation of parliamentary heritage and the educational value of the exhibits.
The Turkish delegation conveyed gratitude to the Senate Secretariat for the hospitality, the informative briefings and the guided tours. The visit reinforced parliamentary exchanges and underscored the ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey at the legislative level.
