NDMA NEOC Strengthens Regional Disaster Response

High-level parliamentary delegations from Turkiye and Azerbaijan visited Pakistan’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) at NDMA headquarters, underscoring growing regional engagement on disaster management. The Turkiye delegation was led by H.E. Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş and the Azerbaijan delegation by H.E. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, with Mr. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, accompanying both state-level delegations to the NDMA NEOC.

Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman NDMA, welcomed the visiting dignitaries and delivered a comprehensive briefing on Pakistan’s proactive disaster management framework. He explained NDMA’s central coordination role and described how the NDMA NEOC integrates advanced technologies into early warning, preparedness and emergency response to strengthen national resilience.

The NDMA team demonstrated key initiatives such as the National Common Operating Picture and the Global Common Operating Picture, platforms that combine satellite data and international hazard models for real-time risk profiling and informed decision-making. Delegates were briefed on the Disaster Early Warning system, widespread public risk awareness campaigns and preparedness measures that underpin rapid response during extreme weather events.

Officials highlighted NDMA’s operational achievements during Monsoon 2025, including timely evacuations of over three million people at risk and coordinated relief and recovery operations across affected provinces. The delegation was also informed about NDMA’s efforts to foster regional cooperation through knowledge exchange, joint workshops, Comprehensive International Simulation Exercises and capacity-building programs tailored to shared vulnerabilities.

The visiting leaders commended the NDMA NEOC’s strategic use of technology and its focus on resilience-building. Both sides reaffirmed a shared commitment to deepen cooperation in disaster risk reduction, capacity development and mutual support in emergencies, reflecting a spirit of solidarity among Pakistan, Turkiye and Azerbaijan.

The visit reinforced trilateral collaboration on climate change challenges and disaster management, with officials emphasizing practical measures to protect communities and enhance regional preparedness through sustained information sharing and joint training initiatives.
