Usman Wazeer Targets 18-0 in Home Title Defense

Lahore will host an important night of boxing in the last week of November 2025 as Usman Wazeer prepares to defend his WBC OPBF Silver title on home soil while chasing an 18-0 professional record. The undefeated welterweight returns to Pakistan eager to perform in front of local fans and boost the sport’s profile nationally.

Wazeer won the WBC OPBF Silver belt earlier this year in Thailand with a dramatic finish over Indonesia’s Stevie Ferdinandus, overcoming a tough start against a vastly experienced opponent and finishing the fight with a knockout at 2 minutes and 22 seconds of the tenth round. The bout was carried live on DAZN and viewed in 168 countries, reflecting growing global interest in his rise.

Carrying a perfect record of 17 wins, Usman Wazeer has made clear that his team is focused on refinement and preparation. He is training with his coach and support staff to correct weaknesses and aim for a flawless performance when he steps into the ring for his 18th professional fight.

Support from ACTIVIT, led by Rd. Rizwan Aftab Ahmed, Director of National Hospital DHA Lahore, has been crucial to Wazeer’s momentum. ACTIVIT has sponsored his last four international fights, providing financial backing and medical support for him and his family, a backing Wazeer credits with strengthening his preparation and morale.

Wazeer’s journey from Astore, Gilgit-Baltistan to the international stage is a story of adaptation and determination. After moving to Islamabad for football trials, he discovered boxing in 2015, quickly becoming Islamabad champion in his debut amateur year and winning gold at the HEC All-Pakistan Championship in 2017. His showing at the 2018 Punjab Games led to an invitation from Amir Khan to train at the Amir Khan Boxing Academy in Islamabad.

Turning professional in 2019 in Dubai, Usman Wazeer collected the WBC Middle East title by 2021 and in 2022 became the first Pakistani to win the WBO World Youth title while also securing the WBA Asia Welterweight Championship. His record includes victories over opponents from India, Indonesia, Thailand, Tanzania and Malaysia, and now he aims to cap this run with a landmark home defence that he hopes will inspire fighters across Pakistan.
