KOICA Alumni Drive Knowledge Sharing in Islamabad

The KOICA Pakistan Office and the KOICA Alumni Association Pakistan (KAAP) convened the 2025 Annual Reception and Knowledge Sharing Seminar in Islamabad on October 7, 2025, bringing together development practitioners, government officials and alumni to translate fellowship learnings into local action. The event highlighted practical research on agriculture productivity and climate-resilient water management aimed at advancing Pakistan’s sustainable development.

Je-ho Yeon, Country Director of the KOICA Pakistan Office, emphasized the enduring partnership between Korea and Pakistan and affirmed KOICA’s commitment to supporting national development priorities through collaboration with KAAP. He described the KOICA Alumni community as a key platform for sustaining mutual trust and cooperation.

Muhammad Humair Karim, Secretary of the Economic Affairs Division, welcomed the seminar as timely and noted KOICA’s role as a major partner in sectors including water, health, energy, education and rural development. He expressed confidence that KAAP will continue to deepen development cooperation and practical outcomes across these sectors.

Alumni presenters shared research findings focused on increasing agricultural yields and strengthening climate resilience within Pakistan’s water systems, outlining actionable recommendations for policy and field implementation. Discussions centered on adapting international best practices to local contexts and scaling pilot interventions across vulnerable districts.

In closing remarks, Dr. Ikram Ul Haq, President of KAAP and Director General of the Competition Commission of Pakistan, reflected on the year’s achievements and called for sustained knowledge exchange to guide future collaboration. He underlined how the skills and networks developed through KOICA fellowship programs can drive joint Korea‑Pakistan initiatives that support inclusive, climate-resilient growth.

To date, 1,841 Pakistani professionals have completed KOICA fellowship programs, forming a growing alumni network that continues to contribute expertise across public and development sectors. The KOICA Pakistan Office reaffirmed that ongoing seminars and partnerships with KAAP will strengthen bilateral ties and promote practical progress on national and regional development challenges.
