Empowering Rural Women Through NADRA Registration

On International Rural Women’s Day the NADRA regional head office in Islamabad led targeted awareness activities to expand NADRA registration among rural women across Punjab. The campaign aimed to simplify the registration process and raise awareness of available services so women can claim identity documentation that connects them to health, education and social programs.

At the three-day PODA awareness conference held at Lok Virsa, NADRA operated a dedicated stall where staff guided visitors through registration procedures, explained documentation requirements and demonstrated on-site services. The presence at Lok Virsa allowed the agency to reach women and community leaders attending the cultural event and to answer questions in person about national identity records.

Special sessions were organized in girls’ schools and colleges in Chakwal, Attock and Mandi Bahauddin, where students were briefed on the importance of women’s registration. These school visits encouraged young women to register early, to support female relatives in their families and to become advocates for registration in their communities.

To remove geographic barriers, mobile registration vans were deployed to remote locations and staffed alongside local social figures to provide priority registration services for women. These mobile units offered on-the-spot enrollment and follow-up assistance, ensuring that women in far-flung areas could complete the NADRA registration process without long travel or delay.

The coordinated approach — combining the Lok Virsa outreach, educational sessions in girls’ institutions and mobile registration vans — sought to increase female participation in national identity systems and to strengthen community-level awareness about the benefits and procedures of NADRA registration.
