Tahir Hussain bids farewell to National Assembly
In Islamabad on 31 December 2025, Tahir Hussain formally retired after a long and distinguished career as Secretary General of the National Assembly. The National Assembly Secretariat organised a dignified farewell to recognise his contributions to parliamentary administration and institutional reform.
Throughout his tenure, Tahir Hussain played a central role in managing parliamentary affairs, strengthening the legislative process and improving administrative systems. Under his leadership the Secretariat advanced several key administrative and parliamentary initiatives that stabilised and enhanced the institution’s overall performance.
Muhammad Mushtaq, the National Assembly’s Advisor for Legislation, praised Tahir Hussain as a compassionate and highly capable officer whose integrity and professionalism set a strong example. He said officers under Tahir Hussain’s stewardship gained valuable experience and that the traditions of discipline and professionalism he established will guide future staff.
Senior officials and staff of the National Assembly Secretariat also expressed appreciation for Tahir Hussain’s dedication and exemplary conduct, offering warm wishes for his retirement. Tahir Hussain acknowledged the support he received across the Secretariat and expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their cooperation during his service.
Recognising the political leadership that shaped his appointment and service, Tahir Hussain commended Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for his vision and efforts to uphold parliamentary dignity and staff welfare. He leaves the National Assembly Secretariat with a record of institutional strengthening and a legacy many colleagues described as a positive chapter in the parliament’s administrative history.
