UN Day Inspires Hope in Pakistan

On UN Day UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Mohamed Yahya addressed Pakistan with a message of hope, courage and confidence, drawing on the words of Mohammed Ali Jinnah. He noted that when Jinnah spoke those words 78 years ago they kindled optimism across a young nation and urged Pakistanis to look toward a brighter tomorrow.

Mohamed Yahya reminded audiences that the United Nations Charter, drafted in the rubble of the Second World War, promised a better future in which peace, dignity and equality for all would be possible. As the world marks 80 years since that treaty came into force, he said the Charter’s values remain as relevant today as they were at its founding.

Speaking on UN Day in Pakistan, Yahya tied the historical message to contemporary humanitarian work, underscoring the UN’s role in supporting vulnerable communities and promoting unity. He called on citizens and partners to keep faith in shared principles and to work together to solve pressing challenges while upholding human dignity.
