Swat Forest Guard Attack Condemned Amid Crackdown on Timber Mafia

Special Assistant for Forestry, Environment, Wildlife, and Climate Change to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pir Musawwar Khan, strongly condemned the recent attack on a forest guard in Kalam, Swat, and called for the immediate arrest of those responsible. The incident occurred after forest guard Aziz-ul-Haq tried to prevent illegal logging in the Swat Forest Division, allegedly provoking an assault from members of the timber mafia.
Pir Musawwar Khan directed relevant authorities to register a case against the attackers and ensure they are swiftly brought to justice. Expressing deep concern over the incident, he visited Aziz-ul-Haq in the hospital, prayed for his speedy recovery, and instructed hospital staff to provide the injured guard with the best possible medical care.
The Special Assistant praised Aziz-ul-Haq for his bravery and dedication in protecting local forests, describing such personnel as valuable assets to the department. He also ordered forestry officials to take strict and impartial action against those threatening the region’s natural resources, asserting the need to stamp out illegal logging and environmental crimes.
Following Pir Musawwar Khan’s instructions, the Chief Conservator of Forests for Malakand Region III, Muhammad Asghar, visited the hospital to check on the injured guard. Meanwhile, authorities have initiated legal action against three suspects involved in the attack, signaling the government’s commitment to protecting both its forests and the officials tasked with their preservation.
