Restoring Javed Manzil ahead of Iqbal150
TİKA and the Government of Punjab have signed a Letter of Intent to restore Javed Manzil, the Lahore home of Pakistan’s national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal. The agreement moves the Javed Manzil restoration into a formal planning phase and highlights renewed cooperation on cultural heritage between the two partners.
Project organisers say the effort is not only about preserving walls but about reviving the spirit of a man whose thoughts inspired generations across borders. The restoration aims to finish by 2027, the 150th anniversary of Iqbal’s birth, so that the site can once again stand as a symbol of Türkiye–Pakistan friendship and shared heritage.
For Lahore and the broader cultural community in Punjab, the Javed Manzil initiative underscores the importance of safeguarding national memory and strengthening international cultural ties ahead of Iqbal150. The collaboration signals a renewed focus on heritage conservation that resonates locally while celebrating a legacy known across the region.
