Advancing Safe Disclosure Through Trainer Program
From 4 to 8 November 2025, a five-day Training of Trainers on Safe Disclosure Saves Lives was held at the Margala Hotel in Islamabad to bolster Pakistan’s capacity to respond to gender-based violence. The workshop aimed to equip participants with practical skills and a standardized module so that Safe Disclosure becomes a consistent and protected pathway for survivors across districts.
The training was facilitated by Rabia Khan and Syed Haider Ali Shah from SPO and carried out with technical support from SPO and UNFPA Pakistan, with generous support from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan. Participants received the full module titled Safe Disclosure Saves Lives and worked toward certification as Tier 1 and Tier 2 trainers, enabling them to lead future trainings in their home districts.
Attendees represented Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad and came from police units, social welfare departments, health and population departments, psychology professionals, academia, INGOs, NGOs and community-based organisations. Gender inclusivity was ensured through the selection process to reflect diverse perspectives and strengthen community-level responses to GBV.
The event concluded with the identification of lead facilitators and local trainers for the Tier 1 and Tier 2 rollouts, shared feedback and learning from practical exercises, and a renewed commitment to promoting Safe Disclosure as a lifesaving practice. Organisers said the certified trainers will now carry the Safe Disclosure approach into district-level work to improve survivor-centered GBV response across Pakistan.
