Advancing TVET Sector Support Programme
The third Project Steering Committee meeting of the GIZ-EU programme took place at NAVTTC Headquarters in Islamabad, bringing together senior officials to review progress and refine next steps. The session was co-chaired by Mr Muhammad Amir Jan, Executive Director NAVTTC, and Mr Jeroen Willems, Head of Development Cooperation at the European Union Delegation.
Representatives from GIZ and the British Council presented a comprehensive overview of the programme, outlining recent activities and planned interventions aimed at strengthening the TVET Sector. Attendees examined technical assistance measures, capacity building efforts and collaborative approaches to better align training with Pakistan’s workforce needs.
Committee members discussed key initiatives to enhance the TVET Sector Support Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union and Germany and jointly implemented by GIZ and the British Council in collaboration with NAVTTC. Discussions highlighted practical steps to scale effective models, improve coordination among stakeholders and ensure robust monitoring of results across Pakistan.
Participants emphasised the importance of sustained partnership to boost vocational training outcomes and employability, and agreed to continue coordinating implementation and oversight through the Project Steering Committee. The meeting reaffirmed commitment to the TVET Sector and to delivering measurable improvements in skills development for Pakistani youth.
