Students Explore Aatish Exhibition at PNCA

On November 19, 2025 the faculty and students of the Department of Fine Arts at Rawalpindi Women University visited the Pakistan National Council of Arts in Islamabad to attend the Aatish exhibition by renowned ceramic artist Nabahat Lotia. The exhibition presented a concentrated view of Lotia’s work, providing attendees with direct exposure to contemporary ceramic practice rooted in traditional craft.

The Aatish exhibition drew heavily on natural themes and reflected more than three decades of artistic exploration and collaboration with traditional potters across Pakistan. Students engaged with pieces that conveyed the transformative beauty of fire through clay, gaining insight into material choices, surface treatment and the dialogues between modern studio practice and regional pottery traditions.

For the Department of Fine Arts, the visit served as a practical extension of classroom learning, strengthening creative learning and cultural exploration for young artists. By seeing Nabahat Lotia’s work in person at PNCA Islamabad, students were able to connect theory with practice and appreciate how long-term collaboration with artisans can shape contemporary ceramic art.
