Capital Hospital Expands Diabetes Care Services

On World Diabetes Day, a seminar led by Head of the Department of Diabetes Dr. Sarwar Malik was held at Capital Hospital under the direction of Executive Director Professor Naeem Taj. The event was attended by Chief Commissioner and Chairman CDA Mohammad Ali Randhawa, who served as the chief guest and recognized top-performing doctors with shields for their service.

The chairman pledged support for the expansion of the diabetes department, and highlighted plans to strengthen diabetes care in Islamabad. Following the seminar, Capital Hospital inaugurated a surgical dermatology treatment unit and expanded neurology medical services, marking a notable enhancement of clinical facilities at the hospital.

Executive Director Professor Naeem Taj personally briefed the chairman on the new services. Capital Hospital is now the first government hospital in Islamabad to offer a dedicated dermatologic surgical treatment unit, a development expected to improve access to specialized care for patients across the city.

The event featured senior hospital staff including Director Admin Dr. Sartaaj Ali, Head of Medicine Dr. Farhan Ali, gynecologist Dr. Shiba, neurophysician Dr. Waleed Iqbal, cardiologist Dr. Abid Saeed, and diabetes specialist Dr. Hina. Nursing Superintendent Sumeina Ilyas Raja and a broad representation of doctors, nurses and members of civil society also participated.

Dr. Sarwar Malik delivered a presentation on diabetes prevention, emphasizing early detection, lifestyle measures and community education as key strategies. The chairman and the executive director commended Dr. Sarwar Malik and his team for their dedication and said the efforts have put Capital Hospital on a clear path to becoming a leading diabetes care centre in Islamabad.

The hospital’s focal person Shabbir Tanoli coordinated the event, which combined clinical inaugurations and public health outreach to mark World Diabetes Day and reinforce Capital Hospital’s commitment to expanded diabetes services in the capital.
