Islamabad Hosts Husn Qirat International Contest
For the first time in Pakistan, reciters from more than 40 OIC member countries will gather in Islamabad for an international Husn Qirat competition running from November 24 to 29 at the Convention Centre. The event, aimed at promoting Quranic recitation and uncovering new talent, was outlined at a press briefing by Qari Sadaqat Ali alongside Joint Secretary Ahmed Nadeem of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The competition is open to men aged 25 to 35 and will be held in two stages. From November 24 to 27 judges will evaluate performances and determine the first three position holders, while on November 29 a prize distribution ceremony will honour the winners with cash awards. The government has also invited the Prime Minister to attend the concluding ceremony.
The ministry confirmed that three international judges will join five Pakistani judges to assess the contestants, and Qari Sadaqat Ali himself will serve on the panel. Officials noted Federal Minister Sardar Yusuf played an important role in securing the event for Islamabad and in facilitating participation by reciters from over forty OIC countries.
Organisers expect the contest to boost interest in Quranic recitation among young people and to showcase Pakistani talent on the global stage. The event is positioned as an opportunity for emerging reciters to gain recognition and for Pakistan to strengthen its cultural engagement through Husn Qirat at an international level.
