People’s Party Pledges Service and Honours Armed Forces
Salma Barakat, president of the Pakistan People’s Party Women’s Wing, said the People’s Party remains committed to public service and that true power rests with the people. She highlighted the sacrifices and achievements rooted in the legacy of the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and noted that party leadership, including the Quaid-e-Awam and the late Benazir Bhutto, have repeatedly sacrificed for the nation.
Barakat stressed that protecting the rights of citizens and minorities is a collective responsibility and that serving the public is the party’s central mission. Speaking to the media, she reiterated the People’s Party’s focus on inclusive governance and social justice for all communities.
She said the People’s Party applauds the Pakistani armed forces under the leadership of Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir for recording significant successes in a short span. Barakat described the sacrifices of the armed forces for peace in the country as immortal and said every patriotic citizen values their service.
Barakat added that since the victory of the cause of truth Pakistan has received growing recognition on the world stage while, she observed, India has sought to hide its face. She noted the government is making serious efforts to address public issues, that economic indicators are improving, and that Pakistan is increasingly establishing itself as a strong and responsible country — a development she welcomed.
