UIMS Clinches Interfaculty Football Title in Penalties

The three-day Interfaculty Football championship 2025–26 at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi concluded with the University Institute of Management Sciences (UIMS) lifting the trophy after a tense penalty shootout.

The tournament kicked off under the supervision of the Directorate of Sports, with Director Sports Mr. Rana Zahid Qamar overseeing the opening activities. Ten teams from across university faculties and institutes took part, showcasing strong campus-level competition and commitment to physical wellbeing.

The final between UIMS and the University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) remained goalless through regular time, and the outcome was decided on spot kicks where UIMS prevailed 4–2. The penalty win highlighted the winning side’s composure and teamwork under pressure.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman attended the final as the chief guest and praised both teams for their efforts. He underlined the importance of co-curricular engagement and reiterated that a balanced academic environment must include sports, which foster discipline, leadership, teamwork and resilience alongside classroom learning.

At the closing ceremony the Vice Chancellor presented trophies, medals and certificates to the winners and runners-up and commended the Directorate of Sports for organizing a well-run event. The successful staging of the Interfaculty Football championship at PMAS-AAUR reinforced the university’s drive to encourage student participation in healthy sporting activities.
