Driving Pakistan Economic Reset Through Dialogue
The first Pakistan Policy Dialogue will bring senior policymakers and private‑sector leaders together in Islamabad on 14 January 2026 to debate pragmatic reforms and pathways for an Economic Reset. Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, will attend as chief guest as the forum seeks practical policy choices and institutional strengthening to revive growth.
Organised by the Policy Research and Advisory Council in partnership with the Corporate Pakistan Group, the event is supported by the Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan as founding partners, with backing from Bank Alfalah, BankIslami and Nutshell Group. The conveners say the Dialogue aims to convert conversation into actionable outcomes and sustained private‑sector engagement in reform design.
Speakers and contributors include federal ministers who will set the policy context: Prof. Ahsan Iqbal of Planning, Development and Reforms; Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Finance and Revenue; Senator Dr. Musadik Malik for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination; and Muhammad Ali, Federal Minister for Privatisation. Their addresses will frame near‑term priorities for fiscal and institutional measures that underpin an Economic Reset.
Panelists from the development and corporate sectors will join the debate, among them Dr. Samuel Rizk of UNDP Pakistan, Khurram Schehzad advising the finance ministry, Zarrar H. Khan of IT & Telecom and PTCL, Dr. Ishrat Husain, Aamir Ibrahim of Jazz, Maheen Rahman of InfraZamin, Nadia Rahman from the Planning Commission, Saquib Ahmad of Systems Limited, Mujeeb Zahur of S&P Global, Sajjeed Aslam, Atif A. Bajwa of Bank Alfalah, Mohammad Ali Tabba of Lucky Cement and Ayla Majid of Planetive, with prominent business leaders such as Zubair Motiwala, Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, Assad Hameed Khan, Huma Fakhar, Mohammad Younus Dagha and Muhammad Azfar Ahsan also contributing to discussions.
The Dialogue will focus on sessions dedicated to Export‑Led Growth, Bridging the Digital Divide, Green Growth Pathways for a climate‑vulnerable Pakistan and advancing a broader growth agenda. Senior policymakers, sector specialists and corporate leaders will lead and moderate sessions to ensure technical depth, practical recommendations and alignment with Pakistan’s external and domestic economic realities.
Organisers describe the Pakistan Policy Dialogue as a recurring national platform designed to promote evidence‑based policy discourse, deepen meaningful private‑sector participation in reform thinking, and drive implementation of reforms that support long‑term resilience and inclusive growth. The convening on 14 January aims to help shape a clear roadmap for an Economic Reset that responds to Pakistan’s immediate challenges and medium‑term development objectives.
