Jinnah International Runway PQC Completed Ahead of Schedule

The Pakistan Airports Authority has achieved a significant milestone at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi by completing pavement quality concrete works on the main runway a full month ahead of schedule. This accomplishment marks an important step forward in the airport’s broader modernization and upgradation efforts.
The runway upgrade was executed using advanced slipform paving technology, with teams working around the clock to ensure swift and high-quality construction. This phase of the project not only promises enhanced safety but also smoother operations for one of Pakistan’s busiest airports.
In addition to the newly finished concrete pavement, the airport is in the process of upgrading its airfield lighting system. All components, including imported lights, cables, and guidance signs, have been delivered and are currently being installed, aiming to boost visibility and safety for both pilots and ground crews.
Final touches on the runway are progressing, with workers focused on centerline painting and marking taxiways to international standards. The rapid progress on these infrastructure improvements is seen as a major step towards modernizing Pakistan’s aviation sector and strengthening the country’s capacity to support growing air traffic in the coming years.
