Gujranwala Board Advances New Building Project
Punjab Higher Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat conducted a detailed inspection of the under-construction new building and multipurpose hall at the Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, accompanied by the Commissioner of Gujranwala Division and the Chairman of the Gujranwala Board. Also present were Controller of Examinations Dr Prof Ihtesham Jan Butt, Board Secretary Prof Rashid Ahmad Bhatti, Audit Officer Zia-ul-Murtaza Farooqi and the Public Relations Officer who also serves as President of the Employees Welfare Association.
During the visit the delegation reviewed the pace of construction, assessed overall quality and examined different stages of completion. Project engineers and board officials briefed the minister on progress achieved so far and on timelines set for finishing remaining work. Rana Sikandar Hayat and the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with current development while issuing clear instructions to maintain momentum and ensure standards of workmanship.
Officials highlighted that the new building and multipurpose hall will significantly strengthen the Gujranwala Board’s administrative and academic operations, ease the workload related to examinations and provide better working conditions for staff and visiting candidates. The multipurpose hall is planned to host examination-related meetings, training sessions and official events, reducing the need to hire external venues.
The Employees Welfare Association president welcomed the project as a direct boost to staff welfare and praised the board administration for advancing the scheme. Authorities reiterated a firm commitment to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe while ensuring prudent use of public funds and disciplined management to enhance institutional performance.
This inspection comes as part of a wider push by the Punjab government to upgrade infrastructure across education boards in the province, with the Gujranwala Board project presented as a local example of those broader reforms aimed at improving examination arrangements and service delivery.
